The countdown continues

Its been since what, June? Well, 5 1/2 months later we are literally days from welcoming our little miracle to the family. Heather is ready. She hurts, feels exhausted and cant wait to have Baylie and go through the whole experience. A lot has been done since my last post. The furniture is of course ready for the little one, the play yard/bassinet is set up right next to Heather's side of the bed, and we just finished our first Christmas shopping experience looking for toys that Baylie will enjoy as she grows throughout the year.

Doctors appointments have gone on without a hitch except for a little hiccup we had with her glucose test which she later passed. The doctor has been impressed with her progress every visit as Baylie's heartbeat has held steady in the 140-150 range and grows little by little just like she is supposed to. Heather joked "I'm saving it all for Thanksgiving." at that week's check up after finding out she hadnt gained any weight in about a month, but we're right on schedule.

Plans this week are for an appointment Thursday morning at 8:30am. If Heather has shown enough progress throughout this last week, we could be looking at a day/night in the hospital coaxing Baylie to come on out of there. If she didnt progress in the last week, we'll keep up our routine of regular exercise and see him again on the 13th. That will be at the end of our due date range, so hopefully she hasnt decided to be stubborn(its in the genes) and is knocking at the door Thursday. Predictions from many say it'll be the 8th. That's tomorrow people...you're on the clock.

- On another note, we jumped back on here to catch up and hopefully do some regular updates because we follow our neice's blog. Harper was a little anxious to see Beth and Matt (my sister and brother-in-law) and was born a short time ago. We have not yet been able to see her, caring for Heather and preparing for our newborn, but we'll spend that time to look more forward to meeting her. So this is a quick shout out to Harper...gain weight, breathe on your own, dirty more and more diapers for daddy to change and go home soon kid.

First pre-natal appointment

Heather went to her first appointment on May 14th, 2010. Everything looked great, weight was good, blood pressure normal and little baby peanut looked amazing. Peanut was very active when woken up because of the ultrasound and we saw legs and arms just getting after it. The heart rate is 165 bpm which I am told is a very strong little heart, and is 8cm long at this point. My favorite picture is of the one where the baby is mooning us and you can see legs and feet very well. Heather's is, as she puts it, ALL OF THEM. We also got a clear look at the umbilical cord and everything looks great. All I could muster during the whole ultrasound was "that is cool!". I suppose that's what it is like for a first time dad. Of course Heather was full of emotion as well as I saw tears appear in her eyes. The feeling was indescribable. Dr. Reiter says she is about 10 weeks, but our original thought of 9 and a half weeks is probably what they will go by seeming as how her last cycle is more accurate to follow. So that will put our due date between December 9th and December 14th. We go back for our next appointment June 11th to hear the baby's hear beat for the very first time. We look forward to updating our family and friends with all of the experiences in the next several months both big and small. What an amazing miracle God has created for us.
